San Marino is one of the smallest states in the world but it has always
had a rich musical tradition. The nation participated in Eurovision for the
first time in 2008 and finally qualified for the final six years later.
Over the years the republic has been represented by both Italian artists and
those from San Marino, and the local artist Valentina Monetta has sung
in the contest four times.
San Marino has not yet won Eurovision but the event is undoubtedly
an excellent opportunity to promote knowledge of its unique cultural
heritage and to develop links with other European countries.
