1.1 Identify and describe the types of performance problems in the HR Clerk’s
statement.
The HR Clerk highlights several performance challenges in her role. These can be
categorised as follows:
1. Lack of role clarity
When she started, her responsibilities were not clearly explained. As a result, she
is uncertain about what to prioritise and often feels directionless.
2. Insufficient supervision and feedback
The absence of regular guidance or performance feedback means she does not
know whether she is meeting expectations. This creates doubt and lowers
confidence in her work.
3. Role overload and misplaced responsibilities
She is required to answer the office telephone, even though this is the
receptionist’s job. This adds unnecessary pressure and distracts her from her
core HR duties.
