Kinetic energy is the energy an object has due to its motion. It depends on mass and
velocity, expressed as

1.2 Explain how energy is transferred in an ecosystem
Energy flows from the sun to producers through photosynthesis, where it is stored as

decomposers recycle nutrients and release residual energy as heat (Odum & Barrett, 2005).
1.3 What is the main purpose of photosynthesis in plants?
The main purpose is to produce glucose as an energy source and building material for
growth and reproduction. Oxygen is released as a byproduct (Taiz et al., 2015).
