Hoe kaatst licht terug
Diffuse terugkaatsing​ = terugkaatsing van licht in alle richtingen
Spiegelende terugkaatsing​ = Spiegels kaatsen het licht in een bepaalde richting terug.
Normaal​ = hulplijn die loodrecht op het spiegelende oppervlakte ligt.
Spiegelbeeld​ = het spiegelbeeld achter de spiegel zit net zo ver achter de spiegel als ervoor.
Virtueel beeld​ = het beeld achter de spiegel.

Brandpunt​ = de lichtstralen in een holle spiegel weerkaatsen
