Blepharitis, pharm
Antibiotic ointments - (BEQ)
o Bacitracin, erythromycin, and quinolone (any -floxacin).
O If infx would not respond to topical meds, if you have resistant infections - use oral
antibiotics.
· First line - doxycycline 100mg PO twice an afternoon.
· Tetracycline 250 mg four instances every day can also accept.
Blepharitis, anterior presentation
o Staphylococcal blepharitis characterized by using scaling, crusting, and erythema of the
eyelid margin, more commonplace among girls in their 40s.

o Assessment findings are erythema, burning, exudate, itching, sensation of foreign body,
ocular exudate with matting, preauricular adenopathy, tearing and dendrites are found in
herpetic infections.
O Evaluate and deal with for systemic herpes.
O You do not want them to get herpes in the eye, due to the fact it may purpose blindness.
O If a fluorescein stain is achieved and also you see dendrites, those sufferers need to be
referred immediately to an ophthalmologist.
