, DIERVOEDING HOND EN KAT
INLEIDING
− Voeding:
o Aanbieden van voedingsstoffen om het organisme op te bouwen en te onderhouden
o Het organisme voorien van energie
o Preventieve en genezende demensies: voeding/gezondheid
− 4 doelen van voeding:
o Opbouwen en onderhouden van het lichaam
▪ Eiwitten, mineralen en sporenelementen, vitaminen en bepaalde vetten
o Lichaam voorzien van energie
▪ De rol van vetten, koolhydraten en eiwitten
▪ Vetten en koolhydraten: belangrijkste bronnen van energie voor de hond
▪ Katten hebben voor hun energiemetabolisme ook eiwitten nodig
o Voeden is voorkomen van ziekten
▪ Dit is de rol van bepaalde toegevoegde stoffen zoals vb. antioxidanten, prebiotica,
voedingsvezels, essentiële vetzuren…
▪ → Specifieke lichaamsfuncties ondersteunen (nieren, spijsvertering, gewrichten) en
voorkomen van vb. nieraandoeningen en ter bestrijding van ouderdomsverschijnselen
o Voeden is genezen
▪ De werking van bepaalde in de voeding aanwezige voedingsstoffen die de genezing
bevorderen tijdens therapeutische processen en de herstelperiode
= Dieetvoeding, uitsluitend bij de dierenarts te verkrijgen


1. STUDIE VAN DE VOEDINGSSTOFFEN
1.1 INLEIDING
− Ieder ingrediënt = bron van specifieke voedingsstoffen → stelt de verschillende organen in staat te
functioneren
− Voedingsstoffen = chemische verbindingen/organische moleculen/minerale elementen die de
samenstelling van voedingsmiddelen vormen en die ieder onmisbaar zijn voor het functioneren van
het lichaam
o Nutriënten: bereiken maagdarmkanaal meestal in de vorm van complexe moleculen die onder
invloed van het verteringsproces worden gesplitst en door het organisme in een eenvoudigere
structuur wordt opgenomen
− Er zijn verschillende ‘families’ van voedingsstoffen = voedingsbouwstenen = basisicomponenten:
o Water: kg/dag (hulpstof)
o Koolhydraten: g/dag (brandstof)
o Eiwitten: essentiële aminozuren: g/dag (bouwstof)
o Vetten: essentiële vetzuren: g/dag (brandstof)
o Vitaminen: microg tot mg/dag (hulpstof)
o Mineralen: (hulpstof)
▪ Macromineralen: g/dag
▪ Micromineralen: mg/dag
− Te weinig of te veel van deze componenten gedurende een lange periode zal leiden tot nutritionele
stoornissen en problemen voor het dier
