PROVIDED.

Sections 1. Quiz Reflection: In one paragraph (250 words) briefly discuss
assignment 01 which was a quiz, tell us what you learnt and how you intend
to use this knowledge in future assignments. [20] 2. Topic Choice: Choose
the question you intend to write about in your final essay from those
provided to you BELOW or in the Portfolio Manual which was uploaded under
Additional Resources in your course website. Write a paragraph (250 words)
reflecting on why you chose this particular topic [20] 3. Essay planning: After
choosing your topic, on a clean page do your essay planning, make sure to
include a mind map/spider diagram explaining how you plan to write your
essay. Be sure to outline your Introduction body paragraphs and your
conclusion. [20] 4. Bibliography: Attach a bibliography of not less than 10
sources (including your study guide GD 001) which you intend to use as
references when writing your essay. You can include internet sources as well.
[20] Total [80] Topics TOPIC 1 Question 1: Study Unit 4 Based on your
reading, would you agree that European colonisation was the reason for the
destruction of the self-reliant Khoekhoe communities in the Cape between
the 1650s and the 1720s? Give reasons for your answer. TOPIC 2

For your quiz reflection, you could discuss how the quiz helped you to solidify key concepts in
the course material. You might highlight what surprised you, what you found challenging, and
how it helped you identify areas to focus on in your future work. Reflect on how the quiz
reinforced your understanding and how you plan to apply this knowledge to upcoming
assignments, especially regarding critical thinking and the application of theoretical frameworks.

For the topic choice, if you're drawn to Topic 1 on European colonisation and its effects on the
Khoekhoe communities, you could reflect on your interest in history and its impact on
contemporary issues. Perhaps you find the exploration of colonisation significant, especially in
how it relates to socio-economic disruption. You could argue that understanding historical events
such as this is crucial in analyzing present-day inequalities or identity challenges, which might
also link to broader themes in your studies.

As for your essay planning, a mind map or spider diagram would help visually organize your
thoughts. You might start with a central theme such as "European colonisation and its effects on

, the Khoekhoe communities" and branch out to various subtopics, such as the causes of
colonisation, impacts on the Khoekhoe's self-reliance, and long-term consequences. Your body
paragraphs might cover different aspects of the topic, and your conclusion would summarize
your position based on evidence.

When selecting your bibliography, ensure a mix of academic books, articles, and credible
internet sources, including the study guide. Having at least 10 references will give your essay
depth and credibility.
