Question 1

1.1 Identify the Level of the Manager Who Wrote the Report

Top-level management (executive)

Based on the information in the report, the section was authored by a senior executive,
specifically the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As an executive member, or top
management, he made reference to aspects of strategic decision-making, company-
wide financial performance, and long-term vision, which are typically overseen at the
CEO level.

N.B: Top managers are responsible for the performance of all departments. They have
cross-departmental responsibility. Top managers establish organizational goals, such
as which goods and services the company should produce; they decide how the
different departments should interact; and they monitor how well middle managers in
each department use resources to achieve goals. Top managers are ultimately
responsible for the success or failure of an organization, and their performance is
continually scrutinized by people inside and outside the organization, such as other
employees and investors.

1.2 The Two Primary Responsibilities (Managerial Functions) of This Manager

Theoretically, top managers must establish appropriate goals for the entire
organization and verify that department managers are using resources to achieve
those goals. As such a CEO's responsibilities align with two key primary managerial
functions namely strategic planning and organising

i) Strategic Planning (and Leadership)

The CEO is responsible for establishing organisational goals that indeed set the
company’s long-term vision, defining key strategic initiatives, and ensuring overall
