How long is a license good for?
Individual licenses expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month of the
year to date. Salon and school licenses expire on the last day of the month of
iniDal licensure of the year due.
When does as license expire?
The condiDons and process by which a salon is licensed shall be stablished by
the board by rule. In addiDon to those requirements, no license shall be issued
unless the board first determines that the condiDons have been saDsfied.
How do you license a salon?
Evidence of conDnued professional liability insurance coverage of at least
$25,000 for each claim and $50,000 total coverage for each policy year for each
operator

The applicant, except the state and its poliDcal subdivisions shall file with the
board a coninous corporatesurety bond in the amount of $10,000, condiDoned
upon the faithful performance of all contracts and agreements with students
made by the applicant. The bond shall run to the state of Minnesota and to any
person who may have a cause of acDon against the applicant arising at any

or agreement made y the applicant with any student.

STATE OF MINNESOTA. A COPY OF THE MOST RECENT INSPECTION REPOR IS
AVAILABLE FOR YOUR REVIEW UPON REQUEST."
Where is the inspecDon report posted?
Inspectors may discuss the results of the inspecDon at its conclusion, in private,
with the salon owner, manager, or a responsible person so designated in
wriDng by the manager. A wriRen report shall also be given or sent to the
owner or salon.
Who are the details of the inspecDon report discussed with?
A responsible person in the manager's absence. The responsible person shall
be licensed as a manager, and licensed as a cosmetologist in a cosmetology
salon, estheDcian salon, or nail salon; a licensed estheDcian in an estheDcian
salon; or a licensed nail technician in a nail salon.
Who is leO in charge of a salon if the manager is gone?
10 days
How long do you have to become compliant if you are found incompliant?
Guilty of a misdemeanor and $2,000 fine.
