Right heart failure - JVD, lower extremity edema, abdominal fullness, & nausea are common symptoms. left heart failure or pulmonary edema - Pulmonary congestion or crackles in lungs, dyspnea, and wet sounding cough are common symptoms. systolic heart failure - Ventricular heart failure associated with reduced contraction & a decreased ejection fraction. diastolic heart failure - Ventricular heart failure due to a stiffened ventricular that doesn't fill adequately. Thrombocytopenia - Condition during which there are low platelet counts. symptoms of anemia - Symptoms of fatigue, pallor, shortness of breath, and pale conjuntivae. Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia - Petechiae, & smooth, beefy red tongue are findings specific to this hematologic condition. sickle cell crisis - The main trigger of this hematologic condition is hypoxia. leukocytosis - Term describing white blood cell greater than normal range of 4- 10,000 normal INR level - INR of 0.8 to 1.1 d-dimer - Lab test used to evaluate for possibility of deep vein thrombosis. echocardiogram - Gold standard in diagnosing anatomical cardiac conditions as well as determining ejection fraction. lasix, or loop diuretics - First line treatment for heart failure that can cause low potassium & sodium levels. beta-blockers - Medication used to reduce the work load of the heart & decrease preload, thereby improving activity tolerance. ace inhibitors - Class of drugs that reduce afterload but are notorious for causing dry cough & increased potassium levels. digoxin - Symptoms of toxicity of this drug that increases contractility of the heart are vision changes such as halos or blurry vision, nausea, & confusion. primary hypertension. - Smoking, obesity, poor diet habits, & high cholesterol may result in this type of hypertension. mechanical heart valve. - Goal INR is 3-4 with this type of heart valve. cardiac tamponade. - Symptoms are the result of decreased cardiac output due to constriction of the heart's ability to pump effectively from a build up of fluid. pericarditis - Symptoms are grating chest pain, worse with inspiration, & relieved by sitting up and leaning forward.
