• Migration: involves the movement of people from one place to another with intentions of
settling, permanently or temporarily at a new location
• Economic migrant: is someone who emigrates from one region to another including crossin
international borders, seeking an improved standard of living because the conditions or job
opportunities in the migrant’s own region is insufficient
• Immigration: in-migration of people into a country which involves a permanent change of
residence
• Emigration: out-migration of people from a country which involves permanent change of
residence
• International Migration: occurs when people cross state boundaries to stay in the host stat

• Internal Migration: is human migration within a country
• Inter-regional Migration: permanent movement from one region of a country to another
