IGCSE Biology Notes
The male reproductive system includes the testes, accessory ducts, accessory glands, and
genitalia. The testes are covered by the scrotum and are surrounded by a connective tissue
capsule called the tunica albuginea. The seminiferous tubules within the testes produce
mature sperm cells through spermatogenesis. The male accessory ducts include the
epididymis, vas deferens, and urethra, which transfer and store sperm. The male accessory
glands, such as the seminal vesicles, prostate, and bulbourethral glands, secrete seminal
fluid that nourishes the sperm. The external genitalia in males is called the penis, which aids
in copulation and the deposition of sperm within the female genital canal.
