Summary An analysis of research in computing disciplines

Computing is also considered one of the major drivers of technological innovation. In particular research has contributed to the technological leap forward. The computing field, however, according to the authors from three different fields: computer science, software engineering and information systems. By putting the various characteristics of the fields next to each other at five levels (topics, research approach, Research Methods, disciplines and reference level or analysis) may be differences between the sub-fields in a clear manner made clear. The research was done on the basis of a literature review of more than 1,000 published research papers. The study adds to the choices associated with the merging of computing-related research fields and sometimes unwarranted, practical difficulties arising from different subfields.
