Read the instructions posted in this Exercise folder, then rephrase
the bolded words in the paragraph below.

The pathogenesis of IA is complex. The lung serves as the portal of
entry for the fungus, and colonization of the respiratory tract is followed
by endobronchial proliferation and bronchial ulceration. The fungus
may spread to the lung parenchyma, resulting in necrotizing
bronchopneumonia, lobar pneumonia, or blennorrhagia. An
alternative route of colonization is through necrotic lung tissue following
pulmonary bacterial infection or from the cavity growth. As a result,
single or multiple abscesses may be formed, in which case the
diagnosis is made only at autopsy. The symptoms of IA are mostly
nonspecific. They include cough, wheezing, dyspnea, and fever. In

Aspergillus-induced bronchitis, the thoracoscopy may be normal.

Your Answer:

The pathogenesis of IA is complex. The lung serves as the portal of
entry for the fungus, and colonization of the respiratory tract is followed
by proliferation inside of the bronchi and bronchial ulceration. The
fungus may spread to the lung parenchyma, resulting in the death of
tissue in the bronchi and lungs, lobar pneumonia, or a rapid
discharge of mucus from the lung parenchyma. An alternative route
of colonization is through necrotic lung tissue following bacterial
infection of the lungs or from the cavity growth. As a result, single or
multiple abscesses may be formed, in which case the diagnosis is
made only at autopsy. The symptoms of IA are mostly nonspecific. They
include cough, wheezing, diffiulty breathing, and fever. In Aspergillus-
induced bronchitis, the visual examination of the thorax may be
normal.

THORACOSCOPY: The context requires that it be made clear
that the visual examination is internal, not external. The doctor
wouldn't be looking at the outside of the chest but using an
instrument to make an internal visual examination of it. Good
work!

Create the following eleven words.
