Booktalk
I’ve read a book called ‘’The Invisible Man’ and today I will tell almost all the information about
the book.

Basic information about the author.
The full name of the author is Herbert George Wells, he was born on the 21th of September 1866
in Bromley, Kent. He sadly died on the 13th of August in 1964 in London. When Herbert was a
little kid he got really fascinated by science, but he failed his study. In 1895 his first book came
out called ‘The Time Machine’. His genre was mostly science fiction, novel, fiction and
nonfiction. George’s love life was very nice. He was married to a girl called Amy Catherine
Robbins, but with her permission they could have an open relationship. So he was in a
relationship with the American Margaret Sanger, the Dutch writer Odette Keun, the Russian spy
Moura Budberg and an author Elizabeth von Arnim. In 1909 he received a daughter with another
girl called Amber Reeves.

Basic information about the book and book title
The title of the book as you already have seen is ‘The Invisible Man’. The story was first
published in a magazine named ‘Pearson’s Magazine’. Then the book came out on real paper in
the year 1897. In total the book has 84 pages and 22 chapters. The book is about a guy called
Griffin who has experimented with science. He made himself invisible, he always wears clothes
all over his body to cover it up. That’s also why the book named ‘The Invisible Man’, because it's
about a guy who’s invisible. The genre of the book is science fiction and novel.

The main characters
Griffin (favorite character): Griffin is a 33 years old guy who is a student in physics. He plays
the invisible man. He is obsessed with light. One time because of an accident he figures out that
he can make things invisible, he wanted to try this out to a lot of things. He became invisible
because when he came in a money crisis he tried to make himself invisible and it worked. Later
he tried to make the cat from the neighbours invisible too. Because he is invisible no one can see
him and so he tries to get a lot of power, but that doesn’t work.

Mrs Hall: Mrs Hall is a very sweet and nice woman who’s around 40 years old. She rents rooms
in her house with her husband Mr Hall, but he is not an important person in the story. She is very
nice as long as people are paying for their rooms. When Griffin arrived as a new renter she
immediately knew that something was going on with him, but she has to stay nice so she can’t
just say ‘what’s wrong with you?’. When she experienced a couple of things she got really afraid
of him, but she wanted to help him.

Doctor Cuss: He is a village doctor in Iping. In Iping everybody knows each other so when there
are coming strangers he is always the first one to know everything about that person, just like
