Social Capital Applications
This lecture covers the value generation through social
capital and social networks. We will use different
frameworks and concepts to explain this.

According to Tsai and Ghoshal (1998), social capital has
three dimensions –
1. Structural Dimension – This is about defining the
social interactions – nodes and links in between
them. For example: in a class the students are the
nodes and a way of link between students could be
coursework. It is very subjective and the dimension
is different for different nodes.
2. Relational Dimension – This is like an asset to the
network. For example: building trust over the
network.
3. Cognitive Dimension – This is more about vision and
goals of the network as a result of the network. It
