WHAT IS IMAGERY?
Imagery is a description by comparison
I.e. You compare the thing you want to describe to another different thing, because they
are alike/similar in one or more ways.
TYPES OF IMAGERY:
• Simile - Describing one thing as another thing, using ‘like’ or ‘as’.
E.g. ‘The boy fought like a lion.’
• Metaphor – Describing one thing as being another.
E.g. ‘Your room is a pigsty.’
• Personification – Describing a thing/object as human.
E.g. ‘The happy sun smiled down.’
