In order to keep up with the ever-expanding data available, a nurse informaticist is needed in most healthcare organizations to improve patient safety and overall health outcomes. The nurse informaticist can also help the health organization staff by creating a more efficient workflow and less individualized organization by helping their electronic medical records (EMR) system work better. This proposal will focus on what the nurse informaticist does and why he or she is needed. It will also touch on how other health organizations have successfully implemented this position and what impact it had on their patients and staff.
