Grand Canyon University (GCU) has many different databases to assist finding research articles to support for the Capstone project. The Cochrane: The Cochrane is made up of 6 databases that contain different types of high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making, and a seventh database that provides information about groups in the Cochrane Collaboration. Databases include: Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Methodology Register, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Health Technology Assessment Database, and NHS Economic Evaluation Database (GCU, n.d.). Joanna Briggs Institute EBP Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), is based in evidence-based healthcare resources and a global leader. The JBI evidence-based practice database includes more than 3,000 records across seven publication types. Includes: Evidence Summaries, Evidence-Based Recommended Practices, Best Practice Information Sheets, Systematic Reviews, Consumer Information Sheets, Systematic Review Protocols, and Technical Reports (GCU, n.d.). Quality is important when researching due to technology when searching for evidence it can be daunting because of the overwhelming results of information that can be found. Another popular approach according to Rada, 2020 is simply searching in Google. Unfortunately, because of its lack of transparency, Google is not a reliable way to filter current best evidence from unsubstantiated or non-scientifically supervised sources (Rada, 2020.) In summary not all bases of evidence or research are created equal these databases are better than Google scholar because they are the most updated evidence-based practice and are peer reviewed.
