On the 12th of June 2021 at 12:00, I attended the birthday party for my life partners baby sister who had just turned one year old. The party was held at a local pub in Amanzimtoti, my hometown, where the manager of the pub set out the braai facilities for us to use. It was mostly family and family friends who had attended the birthday party. It was an informal party and everyone could come just as they wanted. There were about thirty people all of different age groups, genders and languages. The mothers’ side of the family for instance was English and the fathers’ side of the family was Afrikaans. Most of the family friends were Afrikaans as well. Since it was a birthday party for a one-year-old, there were a few children invited all between the ages of one and eleven. The birthday girl’s grandmother, who is seventy-years-old, attended the party as well.
