Engels elevator pitch
Its actually.. really weird. Their would have been so many other options, better options. Oh Im sorry,
my name is Elke. But did you just see that? When we were done with work. Every evening they throw
away the leftover food from the restaurant. I’ve seen it happen so many times, not only where we
work. It happens every day all over the world but it is such a waste! Because we just throw it away
cause were closing the restaurant for that night. While there are so many options what we could do
with the leftover food. Like give it the homeless people! There are so many people in this area that
haven’t eaten for many hours. And there are homeless shelters nearby. But they never have enough
to give everybody in this town a full meal. Why don’t we just give them the leftover food? We where
going to throw it away anyway, so why not give it to people who could really use it? But not only
homeless could use some extra food. There are also a lot of families who don’t have enough money
to buy full course meals for their whole family. And I’d be totally up for helping them. We could put
together food packages. That won’t even take much time. Did you know that every year each person
throws away 34 kilograms of food, 34 kilograms?! While there are so many people who don’t even
know it they can have dinner tonight. And of course we can’t suddenly changes this problem in the
whole world and make it forbidden to throw away your food. But we could start here. I bet we could
give 20 people dinner, just by what the Chef discarded in the trash 10 minutes ago. Especially when
the restaurant just opened again because of corona, almost nobody had dinner here. While we
prepared like hundreds of people would come by. I had to take out the trash out a few times on
those nights. Bags filled with untouched food. And then when I walk back home, I see these homeless
men on the sidewalk. They look like they haven’t seen any food for days. And I don’t know, I just felt
so guilty, like I did something wrong.. Let’s just go talk to the manager tomorrow. I’d feels good to do
something good. He’ll probably think my idea is amazing too!
