Different physical mediums will cause a change in the rate of diffusion primarily due to the degree of disorder and movement in each system. As we move from a solid, to a liquid, to a gas, more and more movement and disorder is present in the system. In this prelab you will design a study investigating how the physical state of the medium affects the rate of diffusion of Red 40 dye.
