Development biology is a field of biology which deals with how a single cell gives rise to a fully grown organism . It can be studied on different biological levels- molecular: chemical, organ system and cellular or tissue level . Before proceeding to the development processes in the different organisms - frog , mammals , birds , nematodes etc., it is essential to learn the basic concepts . This set of notes include some history of this field, differential gene expression , generating complexity and all about morphogen gradient. In addition, 1st process in development, i.e., germ cell determination, is also discussed in a different organism .
